At ShoWest 2008, Robert Downey Jr., star of Jon Favreau's Iron Man, will be honored as male star of the year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Downey will be honored at a March 13 awards gala which will wrap down the exhibition. ShoWest begins March 10 at the Paris and Bally's hotels in Las Vegas.

"For almost four decades, Robert Downey Jr. has been entertaining moviegoers with a resume of films that is as diverse and impressive as anyone could imagine," ShoWest co-managing director Mitch Neuhauser said.

Downey is slated to appear in Tropic Thunder, and The Soloist, as well as his leading role in Iron Man.
