The author of a 90s cult classic will be directing a classic Western remake. According to Screen Daily, Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh will direct a modern remake of the 1960 Western classic The Magnificent Seven, which will be titled The Magnificent Eleven.

The remake won't be a Western, though, with the good guys being a small British soccer team, the bad guys to be a group of thugs lead by a lunatic dubbed "Blonde Bob." Sean Bean, Dougray Scott and Robert Vaughan, the only living actor from the original The Magnificent Seven, set to star. John Adams will produce for his Angry Badger Films shingle.

"Having worked with Irvine Welsh on his feature film Good Arrows, I am certain that the team we have assembled for The Magnificent Eleven can deliver a quality feature film with massive commercial potential," said John Adams in a statement.
