We've known for a long while that Disney and LucasFilm plan to release a stand-alone spin-off movie in-between each installment of the new trilogy series that kicks off in December 2015 with Star Wars: Episode VII. And its long been rumored that the first two movies will be the Untitled Star Wars Boba Fett Spin-Off and Untitled Star Wars Han Solo Spin-Off.

These titles have never been confirmed by anyone at Disney. So how about someone at Cartoon Network's Adult Swim instead? In a recent interview during AMC's Movie Talk 24 Marathon, Metalocalypse director Jon Schnepp seemingly confirmed that Lawrence Kasdan, who first wrote for the character of Boba Fett in the bounty hunter's first big screen appearance with Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, is in fact writing the bounty hunter's stand-alone adventure.

Here is what he had to say,

"One of [the spin-offs] is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan."

Previous reports have also 'confirmed' this to be true, saying that the film will follow the bounty hunter on one of his most dangerous missions, and will feature a rogue's gallery of galactic side characters. His film will take place between Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back.

Lawrence Kasdan was originally believed to be writing Star Wars: Episode VIII, while Simon Kinberg was brought into work on Star Wars: Episode IX. It was later revealed that the two scribes were working exclusively on these stand-alone movies, but no titles were ever confirmed by Disney and LucasFilm, and it was never clear which writer was brought into work on which movie. They were both believed to be working as consultants on all the films being planned.

In October, Disney and LucasFilm confirmed that Lawrence Kasdan and director J.J. Abrams had taken over writing duties on the screenplay for Star Wars: Episode VII. While Disney and LucasFilm had no comment regarding previous screenplays, it appeared that the two creatives were rebuilding Michael Arndt's drafts of the Star Wars: Episode VII screenplay from scratch.

So we know for a fact that Lawrence Kasdan is getting a co-writing credit on the impending sequel. Does Jon Schnepp's comments still hold weight? Or do you think the Untitled Star Wars Boba Fett Spin-Off has been handed off to someone else by this point? Lawrence Kasdan did help create Boba Fett, so he's probably a good fit for this upcoming spin-off. What do you say? Nothing until confirmed by Disney and LucasFilm?
