Hasbro previewed their action figure line at this weekend's Toy Fair for Marvel's upcoming Phase Two sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which included the surprising addition of Red Skull, the villain from 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, portrayed by Hugo Weaving. Does this mean the character will be back for the sequel? Check out the photos below, then read on for more information.
Marvel has not confirmed whether or not the character will appear in this follow-up, but the Red Skull toy is a part of Hasbro's main action figure line created specifically for this sequel. Of course, that doesn't mean he will be a part of this story, either in flashbacks or in the present day. Marvel also introduced a number of other figures that were inspired by the comics such as villain Baron Zemo and a gigantic battle-suited Mandroid, although The Red Skull was not a part of this line.
At the end of Captain America: The First Avenger, The Red Skull was sucked into the Tesseract, the powerful and mystical artifact that also appeared in 2012's Marvel's The Avengers. It was never confirmed if the villain was killed, transported to another dimension, or if he remained trapped inside the Tesseract.
