Shortly before the Big Game started featuring the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals, Disney dropped a super trailer early. The new Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness trailer was jammed packed with action. Doctor Strange variants Defender Strange and Strange Supreme, more action shots of Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, Shuma Gorath, zombies, and much, much more.

One particular scene stood out with an almost clear voice of Professor X, voiced by Patrick Stewart, in the background. The voice says, "We should tell him the truth." And even though Disney and Marvel have a clear history of playing misdirection by moving voices and scenes around in trailers, when you hear the voice it does appear over a scene featuring several chairs as the voice says "we". Could this be a multiverse version of the Illuminati?

The Illuminati is a group of heroes who convene in secret to help mold the status of the of humans with abilities. Tony Stark was an original founder of the group who consists of Black Bolt, Reed Richards, Namor, Professor X, Tony Stark, and even Doctor Strange himself. The group was responsible for sending Hulk off world when they deemed him too much of a threat to remain on Earth. This was the event that started World War Hulk, the comic arc that the events of Thor: Ragnarok were based off of, albeit loosely.

So could this theoretically be the Illuminati? In short...yes. Most of the characters of the secret organization have already been introduced into the MCU, and the rest are on the way like Namor and Reed Richards. The group as mentioned before, also includes Doctor Strange. Here is the kicker to all of this though. In recent weeks, the rumor mill has started churning indicating Tom Cruise will be playing a variant of Tony Stark, rumored to be an incredibly powerful version who possess three Infinity Stones. Patrick Stewart has been confirmed to quite a while now is that Professor X will have a cameo in the film.

Combining these rumors into the film, as well as the voice-over does seem to point to the possibility of one of the biggest on-screen moments yet happening in the MCU. Moving into the next couple phases of the MCU, Disney is pulling out all the stops. Fantastic 4, Moon Knight, Blade, Black Panther 2, and a plethora of others are all set up to bring big things to the next expected big bad of the MCU, Kang The Conqueror. Most of these films are expected to bring fourth tons of new characters and cameos such as the most recent cameo fest, Spider-Man: No Way Home.
