A number of new details emerged yesterday regarding Ant-Man from an unconfirmed report that revealed the villain will be Darren Cross. It was later stated that Corey Stoll is playing Darren Cross, with Patrick Wilson playing his cousin William, who may or may not turn into the villain Crossfire, as he does in the comics. A new report from Badass Digest has surfaced that indicates Darren Cross may actually turn into the villainous Yellowjacket, marking a vast departure from the comic books.

The first news claimed that Darren Cross will go toe-to-toe with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), who steals the original Ant-Man suit from Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). That story hints at Darren Cross' Yellowjacket origins, saying his suit is yellow and black, with a "tendril apparatus" coming out of the back.

What's interesting is that, if true, Marvel will be going in a completely different direction than in the comics, where Hank Pym himself was Yellowjacket for a period of time, one of the many superhero alter-egos he took on throughout his career. Hank Pym was Yellowjacket during an infamous story where he beat up his wife. The suit was later stolen by Rita DeMara, who went on to become both a superhero and super villain, of sorts, before teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Hank Pym will not be taking up the Yellowjacket mantle in Ant-Man, instead serving as a mentor to Scott Lang. But Badass Digest also notes that they aren't positive if Darren Cross will be Yellowjacket either. They do note that Darren Cross is "definitely the industrialist villain," thought it remains to be seen if he'll actually turn into Yellowjacket or not. It seems unlikely that Marvel Studios will have Hank use any of his other identities, which may have lead them to repurpose Yellowjacket as a new villain.

Of course, none of this has been confirmed by Marvel at this time, so stay tuned for the latest updates.
