Following her comeback to the horror genre, Isabelle Fuhrman will be taking on a western with her next big role. Per Deadline, the Orphan: First Kill star has just boarded the cast of Horizon, a western epic from Warner Bros. and New Line that's currently in development with Kevin Costner also attached to star. The film also features Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jamie Campbell Bower, Luke Wilson, Thomas Haden Church, Jena Malone, Alejandro Edda, Tatanka Means, and Michael Rooker.

Horizon, which is also directed by Costner and co-written by Costner and Jon Baird, is set around the American Civil War. It chronicles "a multi-faceted 15-year span of pre-and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. Experienced through the eyes of many, the epic journey is fraught with peril and intrigue from the constant onslaught of natural elements to the interactions with the indigenous peoples who lived on the land, and the determination and at many times ruthlessness of those who sought to settle it."

Fuhrman, a former child star, broke onto the scene with her memorable role as Esther in the hit horror film Orphan. Just recently, she reprised that role for the follow-up film Orphan: First Kill, now streaming on Paramount+. Her other recent film credits include The Novice, The Last Thing Mary Saw, and Escape Room: Tournament of Champions. Fuhrman also appeared in the Showtime series Masters of Sex and provided voiceover work for Adventure Time.

Isabelle Fuhrman Might Also Return to the Orphan Franchise

Isabelle Fuhrman as Esther in Orphan First Kill
Paramount Pictures

Isabelle Fuhrman is already busy filling up her scheduled with new work following the release of Orphan: First Kill, but perhaps she is not quite done with the role of Esther just yet. Speaking about the movie in an exclusive interview with MovieWeb, Fuhrman said that there have actually been some talks behind the scenes about doing a third installment. If she has it her way, it is going to happen much more quickly than it took for fans to wait for part two, which was 13 years.

“I’ve already been asked about Orphan 3 from the team, so maybe, you never know," Fuhrman told us. "I feel like we’re not going to wait 13 years this time around, though.”

Director William Brent Bell also told us, “I feel a trilogy can tell a full story… with this story, we get to see a different side… but we still don’t know much about the years before… and Isabelle is so passionate about the character. It’s like, you can play this character forever if you wanted to, if we can do it in this movie… there’s a lot to that character, and I think in the future stories, she would probably become a bit more cold-hearted again.”

Horizon doesn't yet have a release date.
