After being stuck in development since 2006, the adaptation of Stephen King's novel Cell is finally moving forward, with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson attached to star. Today, actress Isabelle Fuhrman has landed the female lead in this thriller, playing Alice.

The story centers on Boston artist Clayton Riddell (John Cusack), who is on the verge of selling his comic book when a mysterious pulse turns any human using a cell phone into deadly, zombie-like creatures. Clayton teams up with Tom McCourt (Samuel L. Jackson) and Alice (Isabelle Fuhrman) to get out of the city alive.

Tod Williams (Paranormal Activity 2) is directing from a screenplay adaptation by Adam Alleca (The Last House on the Left) and Stephen King. The project had initially been set up at Dimension Films in 2006, when Eli Roth was attached to direct. In 2009, the project was being eyed as a mini-series adaptation, although that never got off the ground. It isn't known when production will begin.

Isabelle Fuhrman most recently starred in After Earth, and she will next be seen in Dear Eleanor.
