IT 2 is gearing up to return to Derry this summer and director Andres Muschietti is ready, sharing pictures of he and the cast and some new concept art of the headless boy from the first movie. It was first reported that the sequel was going to begin production this June in Toronto under the working title of Drive Thru, but that information has changed. Instead, it looks like IT 2 production will begin in July with the working title of Largo. Andres Muschietti has been teasing the production start for a few months on social media.

Andres Muschietti took to Instagram to post a picture of himself and the young cast of IT 2 from the set of the first movie with a caption that reads, "Wake up, losers. Derry is calling." The photo features Muschietti with Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, and Jack Dylan Grazer who will reprise their roles as Beverly, Richie, Stanley, and Eddie respectively. Andres Muschietti announced shortly after the first movie that although IT 2 takes place nearly 30 years after the events of the first film, that the young cast will return through flashbacks.

As for the adult cast of the Losers Club, Jessica Chastain is currently in formal talks to join the cast as the adult version of Beverly. Nothing has been officially announced, but Chastain has been the frontrunner in the eyes of the fans since the beginning and the actress has expressed interest in working with Andres Muschietti again for IT 2, so it seems that she will more than likely hop on board soon. No other names have been officially announced for the rest of the cast, although Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pratt's names have been thrown around.

IT 2, aka IT Chapter 2, was announced shortly after the release of the first movie and had been the plan all along. However, the success of first big screen adaptation of Stephen King's iconic novel was totally unexpected. The movie became one of the highest grossing of 2017 while also becoming one of the highest grossing horror movies of all time. IT picked up the baton of the summer blockbuster and carried it over into the end of the year, surprising everybody involved.

IT 2 is set to hit theaters on September 6th, 2019 and fans are already excited for the rest of the story to be told. Bill Skarsgard is also expected to reprise his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. From what the actor has had to say since the release of the first movie, a lot of Pennywise's origin story was left out and did not make it to the deleted scenes on the Blu-ray edition of the movie.
