I don't know about you, but if there is one thing on this great green Earth that scares the hell out of me it's... snakes! But spiders are pretty creepy too. And if you're left running for the door by classic movies such as Arachnophobia and Kingdom of the Spiders then you're really going to want to go ahead and find another article to read today as the poster and, especially, the trailer for Itsy Bitsy is bound to give even spider-lovers a solid dose of the heeby-jeebies.

Personally, I think the filmmakers behind this movie have managed to nail how to make a perfect spider-nightmare on-screen. I mean movies such as the above-mentioned Arachnophobia are fun as hell, but a bunch of small spiders running around is only so scary to this guy. Then on the other end of the spectrum, we have movies such as the aptly titled Big-Ass Spider where the spider in question is far too big to be scary. But Itsy Bitsy has found the most nightmare-inducing middle ground that makes my skin crawl with its giant spiders. In fact, as I'm typing this out I'm on the edge of my seat thinking I'm about to feel one of this guy's legs on my ankle and it's freaking me out.

The film follows a private nurse and single mother named Kara who moves her two children, 13-year-old Jesse, and 8-year-old Cambria from the big city to a secluded mansion in the quiet countryside to live with and take care of an elderly man with multiple sclerosis. Things seem normal enough until Jesse discovers a mysterious old relic in the old man's house, leading to unexpected and horrifying things coming to life. Meaning of course that the family soon find themselves being targeted by an ancient entity taking the form of a giant spider. Doesn't make much sense, huh? Well, nightmares rarely do, now do they?

This skin-crawling spider flick will be opening in select theaters, as well as digital and on VOD from Shout! Studios this August. Itsy Bitsy features a cast which includes Pet Sematary and Star Trek: The Next Generation actress Denise Crosby as Sheriff Jane, along with X-Men and The Lords of Salem Academy Award-nominee Bruce Davison. They are joined by Portrait of a Woman at Dawn and White Men Can't Dance actress Elizabeth Roberts as Kara, and Arman Darbo as her son Jesse and Chloe Perrin as her daughter Cambria.

Micah Gallo directs Itsy Bitsy from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Jason Alvino and Bryan Dick. The movie features music by Garry Schyman and Frederik Wiedmann, cinematography by Marcos Durian and James Zsigmond, and editing by Matt Latham. Cory Neal serves as the movie's executive producer along with Tyler A. Hawes, Brandon K. Hogan, Adam W. Rosen, and Geno Tazioli. Nick Ford, Kevin Klemm, and Charlize Toratani are associate producers, and Ricardo Delgado is the co-producer.
