IZombie series co-creator/executive producer Rob Thomas recently revealed some new details about The CW Network pilot, while the potential series has added its final series regular cast member, Rahul Kohli.

Rob Thomas co-wrote the pilot script with Diane Ruggiero, based on the Vertigo comic book by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred. It isn't known when production will begin. While conducting an interview with IGN, Thomas explained that The CW wanted a female character in the same vein as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and his own series Veronica Mars.

"They want a new, sort of cool female lead on The CW. They want something in the vein of Buffy (the Vampire Slayer) or Veronica Mars. So they are asking me to write (IZombie) in the tone that I normally write in. It will not be a zombie apocalypse. It will be a fun, cool, smart, funny, single-female lead, who happens to be a zombie. She has to eat brains in order to survive."

When asked if he was sticking close to the original comic books, Rob Thomas had this to say.

"We're not sticking that close to the comics. The thing we're taking from the comic is this mid-20s female zombie who eats brains and gets the memories of the dead. But we put her in a coroner's office, so there's this sort of case of the week each week, where she gets snippets of memories of the deceased, and tries to solve the crime."

Rahul Kohli will portray a character described as "an enthusiastic nerd' who befriends Liv (Rose McIver), a female medical student turned zombie. Liv takes a job at the coroner's office to get access to the human brains she needs to survive. She soon realizes that she is ingesting the memories of these corpses, forming a unique partnership with her medical examiner boss and a detective (Malcolm Goodwin) to solve these murder cases. Alexandra Krosney co-stars as Liv's best friend and roommate Peyton, who is confused by her strange behavior, while David Anders is portraying the villainous Blaine, a spoiled rich kid who is in way over his head in the drug trade. Robert Buckley is also playing Liv's love interest.
