In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, J. Michael Straczynski, scribe behind Clint Eastwood's Changeling, will be writing the sci-fi staple Forbidden Planet for Warner Bros.

Uber producer Joel Silver will be producing the film through his shingle Silver Pictures.

The original film came out in 1956, and it showcased a story about a mission "sent from Earth to check on a colony of scientists on a far-off planet. They find two members, a man who has found alien technology that doubled his intellect, Dr. Morbius, and his daughter, both of whom have managed to survive an unseen monster roaming the planet."

The original film was helmed by Fred Wilcox, and starred Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis and Leslie Nielsen. This film also introduced the world to the indelible Robbie the Robot.
