Over the weekend, Arrow producers revealed that another hero will be emerging in Season 3, with the addition of Ted Grant, a.k.a. Wildcat, although the producers didn't announce who will play the character. Today, Deadline reveals that J.R. Ramirez has signed on to portray Wildcat.
Wildcat, who was created by Bill Finger and Irwin Hasen, first appeared in Sensation Comics #1 in 1942, a former boxer who doesn't have any superpowers, but uses his advanced fighting skills. There was a point in the comics where he was given the ability to return from the dead nine times.
In Arrow, Ted Grant runs a Starling City gym where he helps underprivileged children, who is hiding a mysterious past. He will have a pivotal impact on Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and her story line this season. The role is being envisioned as "potentially recurring," but it isn't known how many episodes he is currently slated for, or when Wildcat will make his debut.
Our report from last week also revealed that the primary Season 3 villain will be Ra's al Ghul, although he has not been cast yet. J.R. Ramirez joins new cast additions such as Brandon Routh as Atom and Karl Yune as Maseo and Devon Aoki as Katana.
