During Jack Dylan Grazer’s interview for Zach Sang Show, he revealed that he needed to choose between a role in Euphoria and Shazam! Grazer said the offer for the two projects came at the same time, and he needed to choose one. However, since he can’t accept both, the actor ended up turning down the offer from Euphoria so that he can join the Shazam! franchise and be a part of the DC universe.

Grazer, who plays Freddy Freeman in Shazam!, admits he was thrilled with his decision to accept the role of Freedy in Shazam! The actor does not regret turning down a position on the HBO series one bit. When talking about the roles he has auditioned for but didn’t get, Mid90s and City on Fire came up. Then he revealed a role that he did get but had to turn down. He was apparently supposed to portray Ashtray in Euphoria. He said,

“I had to make Euphoria. I had to make this Ashtray on Euphoria. I didn’t do it because I did Shazam, and I’m so happy about it. "

The actor further reveals the reason he chose Shazam! in the first place. He explained,

"I’m so glad because he’s dead or not dead? That’s why I don’t want it. Freddie Freeman will never die! If he dies, man, I’m going to be pissed. If Freddie Freeman dies, I’ll say, “I should have [done] Euphoria,” and then I’ll regret everything."

It seems like everything turned out well, as Grazer went on to portray Freddie Freeman perfectly, with the role of Ashtray going to Javon Walton. Fans were delighted that Walton got the role as he also perfectly fits his part.

Aside from avoiding a role that would eventually receive a character death, Grazer also revealed that one primary reason he chose to be a part of Shazam! was because he’s always wanted to be a part of the DC universe. The actor said he grew up watching DC and even had Batman as his favorite character. He never had to second guess his decision since he was also having a great time on the set of Shazam! It seems like the young actor had bonded greatly with his cast mates.

Other than the Shazam! films, the 19-year-old actor was seen in projects such as It, It Chapter Two, Luca, We Are Who We Are, Dreamin' Wild, and a lot more.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is now in movie theaters.
