Paramount Pictures has shifted its action-thriller Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit from a Christmas Day release to January 17, 2014. It will now go up against Devil's Due, The Nut Job and Ride Along early next year.

There is speculation that the release date shift may lead to Paramount moving The Wolf of Wall Street to December 25. The drama from director Martin Scorsese is currently slated for release on November 15, but there has been talk that the studio is planning to push the film into either Christmas Day or early 2014. Now, with Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit opening next year, we'll have to wait and see what Paramount does with The Wolf of Wall Street

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit stars Chris Pine as the title character, a young CIA analyst working in Moscow who tries to stop a terrorist plot that could cripple the American financial system. Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner co-star in actor-director Kenneth Branagh's action-thriller, based on Tom Clancy's iconic literary character.
