Bam Margera Is Suing the Filmmakers After His Firing From the Film

Two key members of the original gang will not be present in Jackass Forever. Ryan Dunn passed away in 2011 after appearing in Jackass 3 the year prior. Bam Margera was originally on board to appear in the new sequel, but he was reportedly fired over failing to abide by the production's drug-free mandate. Margera, arguing that he was taken advantage of while in a vulnerable state, has since filed a lawsuit against Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, and several other filmmakers involved in the new film.

“This is a complete victory for Bam that demonstrates our claims are sound,” his attorney Dennis S. Ellis said when a judge recently ruled that the lawsuit will move forward; the Jackass Forever team sought to have the suit tossed. “The Court eliminated what it believed were two wrongly pleaded causes of action, but it in no way eliminated Margera’s right to seek to block the use of his intellectual property through an injunction against the movie.”

Of his suit, Margera added: “I am p*ssed-off, angry, hurt, and shattered that Johnny (Knoxville), Jeff (Tremaine), Spike (Jonze) and the studios and producers ripped off my creativity, content, and stunts to make this movie, fired me without justification, and refuse to pay for my work; I created this franchise before any of these guys ever got involved. My lawsuit isn’t just about compensation. It’s about treating people with mental health and addiction issues in an honest manner and not taking advantage of their disabilities to rip them off."

Margera's suit had also called for the release of Jackass Forever to be blocked, but as of now, there are no plans to withhold its release. The movie will be premiering in theaters on Feb. 4, 2022.
