Following the success of Jackass Forever, there's going to be more dangerous stunts and wild shenanigans where that came from. In February, the fourth film of the Jackass franchise was released in theaters and has since made its way to streaming on Paramount+. As Paramount was impressed with the film's reviews and box office performance, along with its streaming viewership numbers, it was apparently a no-brainer to move forward with an all-new Jackass series for Paramount+.

“Based off the success of Jackass Forever, we’re working with the creators to continue the partnership with a new series, bringing even more ridiculous antics straight to Paramount+,” Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish is quoted as saying during a company earnings call on Tuesday, per Variety.

Jackass Forever served as a reunion film, bringing back most of the original crew for what could be their final feature film. Johnny Knoxville was back alongside Danger Ehren, Steve-O, Dave England, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, and Preston Lacy. They were joined by new cast members and celebrity guests to help with the stunts, as joining the gang were Sean McInerney, Zach Holmes, Jasper Dolphin, Eric Manaka, and Rachel Wolfson.

The sequel was not without its problems, as the filmmakers were sued by former cast member Bam Margera during production. That lawsuit has since been settled. PETA had also called for filmgoers to boycott the movie due to its inclusion of live animals in various stunts. The boycott doesn't seem to have worked as the film performed better than the studio had expected with its box office turnout. The film was also one of the highest-rated in the Jackass movie series.

The New Jackass Series Will Likely Focus Mostly on New Cast Members

While the Jackass creators will be developing the new show for Paramount+, fans should not count on seeing Johnny Knoxville and the others in all of the big stunts. They may be making special appearances, but Knoxville has previously teased that any potential Jackass continuation would likely be following mostly new cast members embarking on their own wild hijinks. That's because the original crew isn't getting any younger and Knoxville is through taking such big risks to his health after getting seriously injured by a bull filming Jackass Forever. He told Extra in January:

"We have a young cast. We have a ton of ideas we didn't even get to. But if there was another one, I would probably step back and sit next to Jeff, more times than not, behind the camera. But we could do another one, yeah."

No additional information has been revealed about the new series, so it's not yet clear who exactly will be involved with the cast. In any case, this is good news for fans of the franchise disappointed to see the fun come to an end with the fourth film.

You can find Jackass Forever streaming on Paramount+. Meanwhile, an alternate version of the film using previously-unseen footage, dubbed Jackass 4.5, will premiere on Netflix on May 20, 2022.
