Breck Eisner (The Crazies) has signed on to direct Sony's upcoming sequel The Karate Kid 2, which has Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan attached to reprise their roles from the 2010 reboot The Karate Kid.

We reported in August 2010 that writers Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris (Kung Fu Panda, Robin Hood) came aboard to write the script, with Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk, X-Men: The Last Stand) signing on for a rewrite in February 2012. No story details have been released at this time.

Harald Zwart directed The Karate Kid reboot, which followed a young man (Jaden Smith) who moves with his mother (Taraji P. Henson) from Detroit to China, where he is taught kung fu by an eccentric martial arts master (Jackie Chan). The film earned $343 million worldwide during its theatrical run.

Breck Eisner is also attached to a number of projects in development, including Flash Gordon, The Last Witch Hunter, Stretch Armstrong and Blood of the Innocent.
