Joe Namath is getting his own biopic produced by Universal Pictures. According to Variety, Bubble Boy himself Jake Gyllenhaal has signed on to play the Hall of Fame quarterback on the big screen.

David Hollander will write the script as soon as the writers' strike ends. The film will showcase how Namath earned his nickname Broadway Joe and became a 1960s cultural figure.

Producer Jimmy Walsh stated, "Most of the stuff you saw in "Forest Gump", Joe lived through all of it." The film will go into production sometime next year, all strikes pending.
