Apparently, the Spectre theme song and the person responsible for it will be revealed tomorrow in full. But today, we get a cryptic tease for this latest entry in the James Bond musical canon. And it comes from a British Pop star, one of the many singers rumored to be involved with creating this tune over the course of these past few months. Is Sam Smith the man who'll score 007's latest spy adventure? Or is he just messing with fans?

Over the years, a lot of popular singers have delivered truly iconic theme songs for the various James Bond movies. The list is long and quite storied, with Paul McCartney, Madonna, Carly Simon, Shirley Bassey and Nancy Sinatra contributing their vocal talents to the franchise. The last installment, Skyfall, even won Adele an Oscar for Best Original Song in 2013. Now, it seems, Sam Smith is ready to add himself to this rich catalogue of performers.

No details about the song in question have been released yet. A four-time Grammy Award winning musical artist, Sam Smith posted a black and white photo depicting the iconic insignia ring worn by the main villains in Spectre, with Christoph Waltz rumored to play Ernst Stavro Blofeld. The photo in question certainly seems like an announcement that he's lending his vast talents to this James Bond adventure. Over the weekend, it was rumored that this week would mark the debut for this as-yet untitled song.

HitFix were the first to announced that the Spectre theme song would be hitting on Tuesday. This is the same day that advanced ticket sales for the movie go on sale nationwide. It's speculated that Sony has a plan in place to give all those who purchase a ticket a free download of the Sam Smith song. It would certainly serve as a nice reward for fans. As of yet, there is no official confirmation that any of this is happening from Sony Pictures, MGM or EON.

Over the past few months, there has been plenty of speculation and rumors regarding who would be responsible for the Spectre theme song. Early on, it was said that Rihanna was set to not only sing the song, but also star as a new Bond Girl. That obviously didn't pan out. A group of U.K. based bookies wagered that Radiohead was bringing forth this new ditty. Ellie Goulding was also a strong contender after she posted a message from Abbey Road studios saying, 'That's a wrap.' This set off alarm bells, as the Skyfall track was recorded at this same location.

So, is this just a cool photo Sam Smith posted on his social media sites? Or is it an official announcement that he's the one behind the Spectre song? We only have until tomorrow to find out. Unless all of this information is bogus. Which it very well could be. We have the photo for you hear, which some think is the cover of the single that will be released soon. Check it out, and let us know what you think. Is Sam Smith the perfect choice to carry on the grand tradition of Bond theme songs?
