Veteran actor James Caan recently died at the age of 82, but he leaves behind one last performance for his fans to look forward to. Before the actor's death, it had been reported that he'd been cast in Fast Charlie, an upcoming thriller featuring James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan as a hitman with Caan co-starring as his boss. Per Deadline, Caan had finished filming his scenes for the film prior to his death and he will be appearing posthumously in Fast Charlie when the film is released in 2023.

Based on Victor Gischler's novel Gun Monkeys, Fast Charlie is directed by Phillip Noyce (Salt) and written by Richard Wenk (The Equalizer). Daniel Grodnik and Mitchell Welch are producing, while executive producers include Screen Media's David Fannon and Seth Needle, Foresight Unlimited's Mark Damon and Tamara Birkemoe, and David Nagelberg. “Charlie Swift has worked for his aging mob boss Stan for twenty years, skilfully operating as a prolific fixer and efficient hitman. It was also previously revealed that Baccarin will the role of Marcie, the "ex-wife of a mobster killed by Charlie, who forms an unexpected pairing with Charlie in his revenge against the rival mob.”

On Thursday, James Caan's family announced that the actor had died at the age of 82. His passing has left Hollywood in mourning along with many fans of the actor across the world. That's because Caan had made such an impact on fans with his acclaimed performances over the decades, from The Godfather to Misery up to the upcoming Fast Charlie. As someone who maintained his talent throughout his career, chances his posthumous performance in Fast Charlie will also be a must-see.

After Caan's death, Pierce Brosnan took to Instagram to speak about working with the actor on what turned out to be his last movie. Brosnan explains how much fun he had with Caan while filming the movie and says the memories will be something he'll cherish forever.

"On the set of the movie Fast Charlie with the great man himself James Caan," Brosnan said. "Farewell Jimmy. We had many laughs together over those five days in New Orleans. You were an inspiration to me as young actor starting out and an even greater one as a man watching you work each day against great physical pain and discomfort. You gave of yourself to the art of acting and performance to the very end. My heart has a deep sorrow this day for your passing. I shall cherish the memory of you always. My heart felt condolences to your family. May you Rest In Peace forever in the light."

It's not clear when Fast Charlie will be released as the movie does not yet have an official premiere date but it is expected to arrive in early 2023.
