James Cameron: Director James Cameron was on hand at the Hollywood Arclight last night before a screening of Terminator 2: Judgement Day to answer somes questions about the film. In the process Cameron let the audience in on his plans for his next film project. Thanks to readers over at Ain't It Cool News the scoop is now online...

I attended tonight's screening of Terminator 2: Judgment Day at the Arclight in Hollywood, which was followed by a rare q&a session with James Cameron. He was a funny and engaging speaker, and it was a great event. There were a lot of production related questions that were of interest to die-hard fans of the films, and he also made mention of his upcoming project. He wouldn't talk in too much detail for obvious reasons, but he did reveal the following. Big budget Hollywood studio pic. Sci-fi. Will make use of state of the art CGI (though most likely the envelope will be pushed). Will be shot on HD digital. More specifically, will be shot on HD digital 3D (same or similar technology to his most recent IMAX film).

And another reader sent in his report as well...

Tonight I attended a screening of T2 at the Arclight in Hollywood followed by a Q&A with James Cameron. Don't know if anyone was aware of this prior, but he made VERY CLEAR that his next project is a big budget Sci-Fi film. He mentioned seeing Return of the King and realizing it was "time to play" with special effects again. He seemed very excited by current capabilities. He also mentioned that this sci-fi epic would not only be HD, but 3D as well. All I can say is... the wait is finally over... the master is back. James Cameron big budget sci-fi 3D adventure, and next year no less!

Stay tuned for more on James Cameron and his upcoming projects!
