Palo Alto is the film adaption of the published short stories by James Franco. Gia Coppola makes her feature film debut as director and screenwriter, adapting the stories for the big screen. Emma Roberts stars as April, a reserved teenager who is lured into a sexual relationship with her soccer coach (James Franco). Jack Kilmer costars as Teddy, a lost teen who loves April, but is drawn into dangerous situations by his troubled best friend Fred (Nat Wolff). Then we have Emily (Zoe Levin), a lonely girl that mistakes promiscuity for friendship and becomes an easy target for the local boys. Palo Alto is a dark tale about troubled youth in an affluent society. The teens are failed by the adults in their lives and engage in risky behavior, which always have consequences.
