We are just a couple of weeks away from the arrival of Peacemaker on HBO Max and another still released from the series has revealed a new closer look at Nhut Le’s character Judomaster. Despite the DCEU being in existence for just short of a decade, Peacemaker is the first TV series based in the franchise and also comes on the back of its most recent movie, The Suicide Squad, and follows John Cena’s Christopher Smith/Peacemaker in an exploration of his origins and missions after the events of the film.

For a short while, it looked like Peacemaker had met his maker towards the end of The Suicide Squad until a post credit scene revealed that he not only lived to fight another day but was also being recruited by Amanda Waller’s cronies. Following his virtual return from the dead, the series will find Peacemaker being sent on some dubious missions with his new team consisting of Clemson Murn, Vigilante and Leota Adebayo, and with The Suicide Squad’s James Gunn on board the series, it is inevitable that we will be getting the same kind of blood-splattered chaos that reined in the movie.

The new image of Judomaster was shared in a post by Gunn on his Instagram account, and it looks like Cena’s anti-hero is going to have formidable foe to deal with when it comes to the recurring character who could be briefly be seen in one of the recent trailers for the series when the pair faced off against each other in a less than friendly manner.

Fans are looking forward to the arrival of Peacemaker, which seems sure to be small screen hit and lead the way for many more DCEU projects arriving in the not too distant future with the likes of the Gotham PD and Penguin spin-offs from The Batman to come along with the promise of more Suicide Squad returns coming down the line. We have also been given quite a bit of footage from Peacemaker across numerous clips and trailers, yet the plot of the 8-part series is still very much under wraps as we have come to expect from most superhero projects.

James Gunn is quite busy at the moment, as having already completed work on The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, he has now moved onto what he expected to be his final Guardians of the Galaxy outing with Marvel before he once again returns to DC from some additional secret projects. Being active on social media every day, Gunn answers numerous fan questions, many of which are trying to coax out information about his upcoming work. In one such interaction, Gunn confirmed that he is working on at least one more DC project but wouldn’t be revealing anything about it for a while yet.

There are a lot of potential spin-offs that Gunn could be working with when it comes to another Suicide Squad-based series, and Warner Bros. is desperate for more DC content to bolster its HBO Max output. Gunn has made some hints as to what he could be part of in future as he has mentioned on many occasions that he would love to work on a Harley Quinn project with Margot Robbie, but other popular characters like Idris Elba’s Bloodsport are also strongly in contention. Peacemaker arrives on HBO Max on January 13th.
