Witchboard is set to return with a remake led by one of the stars of the moment, Jamie Campbell Bower. The 1986 classic will join Halloween, Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Chainsaw Massacre, Child’s Play, and many others in the list of horror stories that came back after several years.

Campbell Bower, recognized for recently playing Vecna ​​in the fourth season of Stranger Things and for his roles in big franchises such as Harry Potter, The Twilight Saga, and Shadowhunters, will be in charge of starring in this new story, according to Deadline.

The outlet has also shared plot details for the project:

Emily, her fiancé Christian and a group of their friends open an organic café, refurbishing an old carriage house in New Orleans’ French Quarter. But a darkness descends over Emily when she discovers an ancient pendulum board, once used to summon spirits. Christian seeks help for Emily from occult expert Alexander Babtiste, but Babtiste has secrets of his own, knowing the fateful bloodlines that binds them all to the Witchboard. A modern coven of White Witches, a masked ball at Babtiste’s mansion, and the legacy of Naga Soth, the Queen of Witches, are all part of a dangerous game that puts Emily’s very soul at risk.

Chuck Russell is set to direct, and he spoke about Jamie’s casting:

In addition to starring in this new version of the horror classic, Jamie will return for the fifth and final installment of Stranger Things as the main villain. A character who, indirectly, was present from the beginning without the audience even noticing it.

At the end of season 4, Eleven controls Vecna and breaks his connection with Max. But, back in the real world, the Upside Down takes over Hawkins while the villain gets stronger and gathers his army for one final fight.

Additionally, the actor has another two films to be released. The first is Horizon, a western co-written, produced, directed, and starring Kevin Costner, with performances by Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Luke Wilson, and Thomas Haden Church. The other is True Haunting, about which there are few details, and it is currently in post-production.
