It won't be long to wait for the release of the Halloween Ends trailer. While we are just a few months away from the upcoming slasher sequel's theatrical premiere, there has oddly been no footage released so far for fans to see. We can now put a date on the calendar with franchise star Jamie Lee Curtis taking to Twitter to post the date of 7/20 along with a Jack-O-Lantern emoji, most likely signifying the release of the trailer recently teased by Jason Blum.

Responding to horror fans asking about the status of the Halloween Ends trailer and the long-gestating Five Nights at Freddy's movie, Blum also recently tweeted, "Some of you fans are so HARSH! It’s very scary! I hear you all on Halloween trailer. And I hear you all on FNAF. Both projects are TOP OF MIND. We are working on both!!"

Perhaps there's a bit more pressure with Halloween Ends. This will most likely conclude the story of Laurie Strode vs. Michael Myers as there are no plans to develop any new movies at Blumhouse after this third installment of the trilogy. Because many fans were critical of Halloween Kills, there may be some added pressure to get this next movie just right, perhaps by observing the fan criticism and taking note of what worked in the previous two films.

Michael Myers Will Likely Live On After Halloween Ends

Even if Halloween Ends serves as the last part of this particular story, that certainly doesn't mean the Michael Myers character will be going away. The franchise is just too popular with genre fans for it to come to an end at this point. Jason Blum previously clarified that while Blumhouse has developed this three-movie series as a trilogy with no plans for any additional sequels, he still feels Michael Myers will live on with other filmmakers reimagining the Halloween story.

"I didn't say it's gonna be the last Halloween movie," Blum said, via Screen Rant. "It's our last Halloween movie. We have no more rights to make any more Halloween, so it goes back to Malek [Akkad] and what he does, only he knows, but we are done. This is our last one, and I think people will be very happy."

Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie Strode in Halloween Ends, with other cast members including Andi Matichak, Kyle Richards, Will Patton, Omar Dorsey, James Jude Courtney, and Nick Castle. David Gordon Green directs the sequel using a screenplay co-written by Green, Paul Brad Logan, Chris Bernier, and Danny McBride. The film follows 2018's Halloween and 2021's Halloween Kills, and the trilogy completely ignores every other sequel in the long-running horror movie series other than the 1978 original directed by legendary horror filmmaker John Carpenter.

Halloween Ends will be released in movie theaters on Oct. 14, 2022. Look out for the trailer to arrive on July 20.
