Hollywood icon and Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis has now received her first ever Academy Award nomination for her performance in the multiversally mad action-drama-comedy, Everything Everywhere All at Once. Curtis, who has been awarded a variety of BAFTAs and Golden Globes during her decade-spanning career, is up for Best Supporting Actress at the 95th Academy Awards alongside her Everything Everywhere All at Once co-star, Stephanie Hsu.

Despite a wide array of stellar performances from Jamie Lee Curtis over the years, performances that appear across all manner of genres, this is the first time that the legendary actress has seen her name on the Oscar nominations list.

In the Oscars race, Curtis will find herself up against the likes of Angela Bassett for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as Queen Ramonda, Hong Chau for The Whale as Liz, Kerry Condon for The Banshees of Inisherin as Siobhán Súilleabháin, and as mentioned, Stephanie Hsu for Everything Everywhere All at Once as Joy Wang/Jobu Tupaki.

Written and directed by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Everything Everywhere All at Once stars martial arts legend Michelle Yeoh as Evelyn Wang, a dissatisfied and overwhelmed laundromat owner who simply wants to get her taxes in order. But before she can even organize her paperwork, Evelyn must first face a threat even bigger than the Internal Revenue Service. She is suddenly dragged into a battle for multiverse, a battle that only she can win, when an interdimensional rupture unravels reality. Evelyn becomes the unlikeliest of heroes as she must connect to alternate versions of herself, channel her newfound powers, and fight bizarre and bewildering dangers from the multiverse as the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

Curtis stars in Everything Everywhere All at Once as the grouchy, unpleasant jobsworth Deirdre Beaubeirdre, the IRS inspector standing between Evelyn and her family’s financial freedom. Of course, variants and the multiverse play a crucial role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, with Curtis playing various different versions of Deirdre, including one with sausage fingers who is in a relationship with an alternate, sausage-fingered Evelyn.

Though she may only play a small role in the beautifully chaotic Everything Everywhere All at Once, there are unlikely to be many arguing should she walk away with the coveted trophy.
