After a particularly troubled production, Jane Got a Gun is finally getting set to hit theaters early next year. The Weinstein Company set the Western for release sometime in February 2016, but while we wait for the release date announcement, foreign distributor Mars Distribution has debuted the first international trailer, along with a new poster. We got our first look at the film with a photo of Natalie Portman that arrived in January, when it was still set to hit theaters on September 4. But a lot has changed since then.

The Western starring Natalie Portman was shot in 2013, but the production got off to a rocky start. Original director Lynne Ramsay abandoned the project on the first day of principal photography, which resulted in Jude Law dropping out as the main villain. Gavin O'Connor came aboard to replace the director, with Bradley Cooper momentarily stepping in to replace Jude Law, before he had to bow out due to scheduling difficulties. Eventually, Ewan McGregor came aboard to play the main villain, who terrorizes Natalie Portman's title character.

Once production finally got back on track, Relativity Media and The Weinstein Company had originally set an August 2014 release date, which was later pushed to February 2015 and then September 4, 2015. When Relativity Media went bankrupt earlier this year, the film was pulled off the release schedule altogether, before The Weinstein Company announced they would distribute the movie by themselves, setting an unspecified February 2016 date for the Western. It remains to be seen when the studio will release a domestic trailer, but at least we can see the first footage in this international trailer.

Jane Got a Gun centers on Jane Hammond (Natalie Portman), who has built a new life with her husband Bill "Ham" Hammond (Noah Emmerich) after being tormented by the ultra-violent Bishop Boys outlaw gang. She finds herself in the gang's cross-hairs once again when Ham stumbles home riddled with bullets after dueling with the Boys and their relentless mastermind Colin (Ewan McGregor. With the vengeful crew hot on Ham's trail, Jane has nowhere to turn but to her former fiancé Dan Frost (Joel Edgerton) for help in defending her family against certain destruction. Haunted by old memories, Jane's past meets the present in a heart-stopping battle for survival.

The supporting cast is rounded out by Rodrigo Santoro, Boyd Holbrook, Alex Manette, Todd Stashwick, James Burnett, Sam Quinn and River Shields. Gavin O'Connor directs from a screenplay by Brian Duffield (The Divergent Series: Insurgent), Anthony Tambakis (Warrior) and Joel Edgerton, whose writing credits include The Rover and his directorial debut, The Gift.
