Overture is taking a thriller from Iceland stateside for its next film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Overture has secured the rights to the Icelandic film, Jar City for an Americanized remake.

Michael Ross will write the screenplay, setting the film in a small Louisiana town. The original film's director, Baltasar Kormakur, is on board the remake as a producer.

The original thriller dealt with a detective in a small town whose murder investigation reveals the town's dirty secrets, as well as explores his own relationships.

Ross said he wants to keep the tone of the original film the same, stating he, "wants to keep these emotionally engaged, haunted people while finding a way to foreground the thriller elements."

No production schedule was released for the film.
