Arrested Development's Jason Bateman has signed on to the thriller, The Kingdom for Universal Pictures.

The film already includes Oscar winners Jamie Foxx and Chris Cooper, as well as Jennifer Garner. The Hollywood Reporter says the Peter Berg-helmed film is set following a deadly bombing attack that targeted Americans working in a Middle Eastern country. In response, the U.S. government sends in an elite team of counterterrorism investigators to try and find those responsible.

The Kingdom is written by Matthew Michael Carnahan with production beginning next month; a 2007 release is scheduled.
