We reported last week that the casting of the title role in an upcoming remake was down to two actors and now it seems to be down to just one. Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that Stargate Atlantis actor Jason Momoa has signed on to play the barbarian Conan in the new remake.

The race was between Momoa and Kellen Lutz, but apparently Momoa was won over by director Marcus Nispel and he won over the studio by filming a few scenes wielding a giant sword.

The casting means the film is on track to start production on March 15, with filming to take place in Bulgaria.
