Jason Momoa has become best known for playing the hero in his recent movies, but the Aquaman star will be definitely playing the villain in as Dante in Fast X. While there are plenty of actors who relish getting the chance to unleash their inner bad guy on the world through such roles, Momoa wanted this one to be different, and that is the one reason he took on the part in the penultimate Fast & Furious movie. He told Total Film:

"I didn’t want it to turn into another macho, testosterone-showdown kind of thing. I wanted to make him look really inviting and easy-going, to have a softer side. That’s why he wears pastels. He’s a little androgynous. He’s been really, really hurt, so he’s a dangerous person. But his external vibes...I wanted you to be intrigued by Dante Reyes."

The footage of Dante revealed in the exceptionally long Fast X trailer was certainly enough to get many fans excited for Momoa’s addition to the franchise. When it comes to joining the team though, the experience was not as a “drama” filled as the actor expected. He continued:

“I was expecting there to be a lot of – I mean, to be completely honest – drama, and you’re like, 'I want nothing to do with this.' But I saw nothing of the sort. It was amazing. Everyone was so supportive. I had a ball with Vin. I was just shocked at how cool everyone was. No one was jaded; everyone was just really, really happy to be there. There was no holding me back. Normally, a director will say 'Don’t do that.' But Louis was like, 'Do more!' He was really fun that way."

When it comes to playing the villain, there are those who want power, those who want anarchy and those who want revenge. It seems that Jason Momoa’s Dante is all about the latter of these, and director Louis Leterrier broke down how he sees the character’s motives and way of working. He said:

“Dante is in awe of Dom. He’s analyzed him. There’s nowhere to hide, because he knows Dom better than he knows himself. Dom truly meets his match with Dante. Family goes both ways. There’s family on your side. There’s also family on the other person’s side. When the family that was your super-strength becomes your Achilles’ heel, it’s where you’re going to get wounded the most.”

The director has also hinted that there could well be a number of big name casualties as the series speeds towards its conclusion. He noted, “There’s a war brewing. It’s coming to an end, and it is a race to the finish. There will be some tremendous casualties.” The question is who will survive the final rides? The beginning of the end of the Fast & Furious Saga starts on May 19 when Fast X arrives in theaters worldwide.
