Although Jason Momoa has found huge success in movies like Aquaman, he has, by his own admission, been involved in a few duds as well. The actor may have managed to come out of the shadow of many of these, but one that sticks with him is the remake of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Conan the Barbarian, which he admits was “a big pile of s***.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger made his name playing the title role in Conan the Barbarian, and it was a huge hit despite receiving mixed reviews all around. The film went on to deliver a sequel, Conan the Destroyer, and had plans for a third movie which could only now be coming to fruition. Like most things, though, there is nothing like a good remake, and the 2011 movie was nothing like a good remake. The movie gained a vast majority of negative reviews, bombed at the box office and saw all thoughts of a potential sequel being cast aside immediately.

Now Momoa has revealed in a recent interview with GQ that he enjoyed filming the movie, which was one of his early big roles, but he suggested that things went wrong with it during the editing process. He said:

“I’ve been a part of a lot of things that really sucked, and movies where it’s out of your hands. Conan [the Barbarian] was one of them. It’s one of the best experiences I had and it [was] taken over and turned into a big pile of shit.”

While his early film roles may have left something to be desired for the beefed-up actor, Momoa has certainly hit his stride in recent years. Whether it is playing Aquaman in the DCEU, or his appearances in movies such as Dune and the upcoming Fast and Furious finale, as well as the TV show See, Momoa has hardly put a foot wrong in recent times. With the actor set to reprise the title role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, as well as rumored roles in an upcoming Minecraft movie and a remake of Sylvester Stallone’s Cliffhanger, Momoa doesn’t seem to be returning to duds like Conan the Barbarian any time soon.

Momoa will join Charlize Theron as one of the villains in Fast X and the final Fast and Furious movie. The actor is currently filming and previously talked about his role, which is one that allows him to play the bad guy for a change. He said:

"It's fun, I get to play the bad guy, which I haven't gotten to do for a while. Now, I get to be the bad boy. A very flamboyant bad boy. A little panache!"

Of course, Momoa found fame playing the villain Kahl Drogo in Game of Thrones, and after ditching his dark side for more heroic roles, his appearance in Fast X will allow him to step back into the part of a bad guy, at least for a short while. Fast X is expected to arrive in cinemas on May 19, 2023.
