Early reviews have hailed Jason Momoa as the greatest thing in the new Fast and Furious movie, Fast X. However, even playing the best villain the franchise has produced – according to first reactions – hasn’t stopped the Aquaman star from being disappointed by one aspect of the movie; the lack of time he spends driving in it.

Being a high octane franchise, you would think that speeding around the roads in a vehicle of choice would be a given for any star of the Fast and Furious saga, but it seems that Momoa wanted more than he got, although he also intends fixing that in Fast 11. He told a recent press event (via CinemaBlend):

“My only one maybe like bummer of the whole thing is I didn't get to drive more, which is gonna change in the next one. That'll be my massive request, is going like, 'I would love to go to driving school.' I would love to go learn that stuff.I know how to ride motorcycles just from doing my own thing, and so I did 80 percent of the motorcycle stuff, which is great and I'm super happy that they trusted me to do it. And then the stunts that would jeopardize the whole picture, obviously a stunt man would take that over, but I really would love to drive more.”

From the many trailers released ahead of the movie’s theatrical debut, it seems that Momoa is in the thick of the action for most of it, so it is somewhat surprising to find that he didn’t get long enough plating with cars. However, we know that his character is not done after this movie, so as he has pointed out, there is still plenty of time to rectify this next time around.

Fast X Has Received a Lot of Early Praise

The road to cinemas has been a long one for Fast X, and it hasn’t been an easy one, with the movie having swapped director Justin Lin for Louis Leterrier part way through production. Despite that, and the script rewrites it brought with it, the film doesn’t seem to have suffered in any way if the first reviews are to be believed. Is the film perfect? Apparently not, but it does deliver the over-the-top action set pieces the franchise has become known for, and Momoa seems to be on his best form playing a villain for a change after being cast as so many protagonists in the last decade.

All of this suggests that the next couple of weeks are going to prove to be a busy time in theaters with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 still doing good business, Fast X arriving this weekend and Disney dropping The Little Mermaid on May 26. While Fast X should be able to do enough to see of the Guardians this weekend, its time at the top of the box office is going to be short-lived as The Little Mermaid is not likely to be chased down by Vin Diesel and his road-racing family.
