Aquaman star Jason Momoa has addressed his reunion with Batman actor Ben Affleck in the upcoming DC sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Speaking with Variety, Momoa heaped praise on his surprise co-star, who was revealed to be reprising the role of The Dark Knight in the Aquaman follow-up back in July.

"It’s just hugs and kisses. I love that guy. We get along too well. It’s very good to see him again."

It had been assumed that Ben Affleck’s time as Bruce Wayne aka Batman was over, and that audiences would see him play the iconic role for the final time in The Flash. But we all learned why we should never assume when Jason Momoa shared an image of himself sitting alongside a Bruce Wayne-looking Ben Affleck on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Momoa has further discussed Affleck’s role as Batman in the DC cinematic universe while speaking with AP Entertainment, during which the actor suggested that there could be a lot more to come from Affleck’s iteration of the iconic character.

"Well I can't tell you anything about the reunion; he may or may not be in it; and there may be more or less or even more Batmans in it – who knows? You can only know a little bit."

It is unknown how big of a role Ben Affleck will play in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but considering the response from fans ever since, Warner Bros. would surely be foolish to let the actor retire from the cape and cowl. It was thought that the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman, who will also appear in The Flash, would become the main version in the DC universe. Recent rumors have claimed that, while this was the initial plan, things have now changed and Affleck will take center stage instead.

Before we delve back into the world of Aquaman, audiences will first see Ben Affleck’s Batman return in The Flash. After traveling back in time to prevent his mother's murder, Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) accidentally opens up the DC multiverse and emerges in a very different timeline.

The extent of Affleck’s role in The Flash is also largely unknown, but the actor has said that some of his favorite moments as Batman are in the long-delayed DC movie.

"I have never said this — this is hot off the presses — but maybe my favorite scenes in terms of Batman and the interpretation of Batman that I have done, were in the Flash movie," Affleck told The Herald Sun. "I hope they maintain the integrity of what we did because I thought it was great and really interesting — different, but not in a way that is incongruent with the character. Who knows? Maybe they will decide that it doesn't work, but when I went and did it, it was really fun and really, really satisfying and encouraging and I thought, 'Wow — I think I have finally figured it out.'"

The Flash is scheduled to be released on June 23, 2023. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, meanwhile, has suffered another delay, and is now scheduled to be released on December 25, 2023.
