Jason Statham eyes the spy comedy Susan Cooper
Jason Statham is eyeing a return to the comedy genre with the 20th Century Fox project Susan Cooper. The actor has met with writer-director Paul Feig, and negotiations will begin soon.

The story centers on an unlikely female secret agent, played by Melissa McCarthy. If a deal comes together, Jason Statham will play a spy on the same side as the title character.

Paul Feig is directing from his own original screenplay and producing with Jesse Henderson. It isn't known when production will begin.

Jason Statham, who launched his film career with Guy Ritchie's comedy Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels, most recently starred in Parker, Redemption, and he will next be seen in Homefront next month. He also stars in the upcoming action sequels Fast & Furious 7 and The Expendables 3.
