Kane Hodder is a legend on the horror circuit. The actor is no stranger to horror conventions, but he has stepped up his game for 2020. Hodder and Monster Mania 2020 have announced that the actor will appear as Uber Jason from Jason X for the first time ever. Friday the 13th fans are going to be in for a rare treat when they meet up with Hodder this time around.
Monster Mania takes place the weekend of March 14th, 2020 in New Jersey. On the 14th, fans will be able to meet and take photos of Kane Hodder as Uber Jason from Jason X. The metallic mask has not been worn by the actor at this kind of convention ever, and fans will surely want to get in on this opportunity. Hodder will only be at the convention on March 14th, so make sure you plan in advance if he is the reason you are attending Monster Mania.
Jason X hit theaters in 2002 and was the tenth installment in the Friday the 13th franchise. This marked the fourth time that Kane Hodder played the titular character and he starred alongside Lexa Doig, Lisa Ryder, and Chuck Campbell. The movie was able to earn over $17 million at the box office from a budget that was anywhere near $11 million to $14 million, which means that it was pretty much a gigantic flop. Critics gave the movie terrible reviews and the horror community wasn't really into the new direction at all.
As for that new direction, Jason X saw the Jason Voorhees heading to space for a new way to look at the franchise. It introduces the titular character's futuristic counterpart, Uber Jason. Conceived by Todd Farmer as the only pitch he gave to the studio, he decided that he wanted to see Jason in space as a way to advance the storyline. However, this storyline was not met with joy by horror fans. As of this writing, the sequel maintains a 19% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes. With that being said, the movie has become more of a cult favorite since it hit theaters nearly 20 years ago.
Now that there has been some time to reflect on Jason X, there are a lot of fans who can appreciate the movie for what it is. It's supposed to be absurd and it plays up all of the angles that it can. For those fans, Monster Mania 2020 is going to be a legendary experience where they can meet Uber Jason for the first time ever. Not only that, but they'll also be able to take photographs with the horror icon in a way that was never possible before. The Monster Mania Convention Twitter account was the first to announce the Uber Jason Kane Hoder news.
