Fans of Batwoman were disappointed to learn that The CW has axed the show after three seasons, but its lead star is looking at the bright side of the situation. Joining the show in season 2 and serving as its titular superhero for seasons 2 and 3, Javicia Leslie initially came into the series to replace original star Ruby Rose upon her exit. Leslie was hoping to got for at least another season and was recently supporting the fans pushing for that to happen.

Luck wasn't on Leslie's side, given how The CW axed Batwoman. Be that as it may, Leslie remains proud of the work she had put into the show, along with the history that was made by it. She posted a message on Instagram opening up about the cancelation, and Leslie is choosing to celebrate what it was rather than what could be. Leslie says that "HERstory" was made and offers her thanks to her fellow cast and crew that made it hall happen.

"The Most High never ceases to amaze me! I was taught that words have power and we speak our life into existence. Well, I spoke this role into my life, and what an honor it has been to watch it play out exactly how it was meant to Family, this Bat Team is ours.. HERstory was made and it can never be taken. Going to set with such an amazing crew and cast makes work feel like play EVERY DAY! Thank you to our entire production team in Vancouver, our LA peeps that keep the stories coming, our big-wigs that believed that we could really do this, and our amazing cast that give their hearts on-screen every episode!"

Leslie also sook some time to respond to the fans directly. Since the show was canceled, Batwoman fans had been offering support for Leslie and praising her performance. It has made her pretty emotional, and she thinks back upon a Viola Davis quote as the best way to summarize how she feels as he moves on to new creative endeavors.

"And to the fans… WOW… I tear up thinking about all of your messages, tweets, DMs, and letters!! You all reminded me why what we do is soooo important. @ViolaDavis recently said in an interview when asked why representation matters: “Because you need to see a physical manifestation of your dream. There is something about seeing someone who looks like you that makes it more tangible.' … cheers to what’s next."
