This past /upcoming-peter-pan-origin-story-gets-director-joe-wright/week, Hanna director Joe Wright signed onto helm Pan, a Peter Pan origin story being set up at Warner Bros. Now comes news that Javier Bardem is in talks to play the lead villain.

The movie will be based on J.M. Barrie's classic tale, which has been retold numerous times on telelvision and at the movies. Flipper remake writer Jason Fuchs is currently drafting the screenplay.

Javier Bardem will not play the most iconic Pan villain Captain Hook, but instead will personify Blackbeard. The story revolves around orphan boy Peter, who is taken for the first time to the magical world of Neverland, where he joins the natives, leading them in a rebellion against a group of evil pirates.

Javier Bardem is no stranger to playing the bad guy, as he has created iconic villains for No Country for Old Men and James Bond's Skyfall. This will be his first time playing a pirate.
