A direct-to-DVD version of Jaws?

In a story from Filmrot.com, it seems that DVD sales drive the industry even more than we know.

First Warner Bros. came out with their direct-to-DVD arm and now MGM has jumped into the fray. Eventually it seems like all the studios, mini and major, will have this outlet of content that won't just supplement their feature film divisions, it will be their film divisions.

In the Filmrot.com story, which was given to them by a scooper/screenwriter who was apparently asked to pitch ideas for this new Jaws film, it seems that Universal is interested in doing the movie with a "CGI" shark. Also, Roy Schieder, who played Martin Brody in the first two Jaws films will not be coming back.

In addition to this sequel idea, Universal is apparently looking into doing a straight-to-DVD version of Van Helsing. The only thing the scooper said about that was that Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck) would most likely be a part of it.

Trust me, if there are any more developments with this we will be sure to cover them!
