Kevin Smith has shared a new poster for his upcoming movie Jay & Silent Bob Reboot. Or, to be more specific, he's shared a poster for the movie within his new movie, a reboot of the Bluntman and Chronic franchise. In this case, the reboot within the filmmaker's sequel comes with something of a twist, as the character of Chronic has been gender-swapped and is now being played by a female actress.

The image was shared by Kevin Smith on Instagram ahead of San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, where he'll debut the first trailer for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. The Clerks director previously made it clear that this movie will be a commentary on the current reboot-heavy nature of Hollywood. It's now clear he's going to tackle the gender-swapping trope, which has become increasingly popular. It's also very important to point out that this image is very clearly meant to be a riff on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Smith had this to say about the artwork in his Instagram post.

"In the new adventure, #jayandsilentbob find out the old #bluntmanandchronic movie that was based on them is getting a Reboot, so they go back to Hollywood to stop it all over again! But as with any Reboot, the source material has been modernized, so the rebooted Bluntman movie (the reboot of the movie that starred Jason Biggs and James Van Der Beek) now features a female Chronic! I won't spoil who plays the new Bluntman and Chronic (it's in the trailer), so I'll take some guesses instead: Who's Behind the Masks? When the trailer drops this weekend, you'll get to see if you were right."

We're going to learn who is under the masks once the trailer arrives. For now, all we can do is guess. It was previously revealed that Thor star Chris Hemsworth will have a cameo. Wouldn't he make for a good Bluntman? The real question is, who is taking over as Chronic? Speaking further, Kevin Smith teased a bit of what fans can expect that are lucky enough to be in attendance at SDCC this weekend.

"If you're at Saturday night's 'Kevin Smith Reboots Hall H' panel, you'll not only see the Reboot trailer: I'm gonna show you the #Bluntman movie-in-a-movie scene too! I can't wait to start sharing this epic! It's my all-time favorite of all my flicks and also a meta scrapbook of my entire career (and life) that sequelizes all the #viewaskew movies in one sprawling story!"

In his post, it was clarified that Jay and Silent Bob Reboot will arrive this fall, even though the poster says summer, which is when the Bluntman and Chronic reboot, in the View Askewniverse, debuts. The cast for the movie includes Jason Mewes, who returns as Jay, alongside Kevin Smith's Silent Bob. Jason Lee, Brian O'Halloran, Shannon Elizabeth, Diedrich Bader, Rosario Dawson, Method Man, Red Man, Molly Shannon, Kate Micucci and Chris Jericho are also set to appear. We'll be sure to bring the trailer your way as soon as it debuts this weekend. In the meantime, be sure to check out the poster from Kevin Smith's Instagram below.
