Jeff Bridges has joined the cast of Bob Weide's comedy How to Lose Friends and Alienate People in the key role of Clayton Harding, a New York magazine editor closely modeled on Vanity Fair's Graydon Carter.

According to Variety, Danny Huston and Gillian Anderson have also been signed up for the movie, which stars Simon Pegg and Kirsten Dunst.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, which starts shooting June 4, is based on British journalist Toby Young's memoir of his misadventures in New York as a contributing editor for Vanity Fair.

Variety goes on to say that Young is merciless in his description of his own hapless attempts ingratiate himself with celebrities, models and power players, but is equally caustic in his depiction of Carter's grandiose pretensions and Vanity Fair's self-important culture. The thinly fictionalized movie adaptation is written by Peter Straughan.
