Jeff Bridges will face off against Robert Downy Jr. in Jon Favreau's Iron Man. In an interview with MovieHole, Bridges talked about Iron Man and revealed that he isn't generally a fan of the superhero genre.

When asked, if he enjoyed superhero films, Bridges answered "Not generally speaking, but this one's going to have a different spin than your normal super-hero. We've got Robert Downey Jr who's playing Iron Man and you've got Jon Favreau, who's a wonderful writer-director-actor at the helm. He created a really different kind of tone and the special effects are going to be there which are going to be really amazing. But the tone I think is going to be a lot of fun." However, Bridges did say that he read some of the Iron Man comics before filming. "Yeah, I did. I didn't want to disappoint the guys who love those comics, and that's the part I played. So I got to shave my head for the role, which is something I've always wanted to do."

Bridges plays the part of Obadiah Stane, who was at one time a mentor to Tony Stark (Downey). By the time of the film, Stane and Stark are rivals. In the comics, this rivalry eventually leads to Stane taking over Stark's company, and creating his own powered suit of armor to fight against Iron Man - the Iron Monger. The Iron Monger suit is a giant-sized version of Iron Man, which can be briefly seen in the teaser trailer for the film.

Iron Man flies into theatres May 2, 2008.
