Shortly after Dumb and Dumber To was dropped by Warner Bros. last month, Universal Pictures swooped in to save the comedy sequel. Actor Jeff Daniels revealed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon that production is scheduled to begin in September.

"I'll believe it's happening when I'm there, staring at Jim Carrey, but it looks like we're starting in September. Everybody is back, Jim in particular. It's going to be so great to be with Jim Carrey again. He's one of the best we've got. It will be the 20th Anniversary of the first one next year. I've seen the script. It's hysterical. We're middle-aged, we're not pretending we aren't. We're middle-aged and we're still that stupid."

Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly are directing from a script by Sean Anders and John Morris which the directors rewrote themselves. The story revolves around Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels), who go on a road trip to find the illegitimate child that one of them may have sired.
