Jeff Garlin, prominent comedian and cast member on The Goldbergs and Curb Your Enthusiasm, has recently been the target of multiple allegations of inappropriate behavior on set. After news of him getting fired from The Goldbergs broke, the 59-year-old star has decided to share his side of the story.

In multiple interviews since the incident, Garlin has repeatedly tried to make it clear that he, in fact, has not been fired from the show. According to him, his actions are "silly," and what happened between him and the crew of The Goldbergs was just a "difference of opinion." He went on to add that he never meant to harm or physically intimidate anyone on the show. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jeff said:

If I, as the star of the show, demanded a gun range and on set, and I was firing guns every day and I was a little bit loose—to me, that’s an unsafe work atmosphere. If I threatened people, that’s an unsafe work atmosphere. None of that goes on ever with me. That’s not who I am. I am sorry to tell you that there really is no big story.

The show's human resources department has reached out to him three times in the last three years. However, it is not known exactly what he is specifically being accused of. One noted instance of his misbehavior is that he reportedly jokingly said “Oh, my vagina” in front of the cast and crew of The Goldbergs. He does agree that there has been a difference in opinion about his behavior on the set of this hit comedy from ABC.

Garlin shared his own two cents about the issue in an interview with Fox as well.

It’s always the same thing. It’s about me and my silliness on set... They don’t think it’s appropriate. I do. That’s where we’re at. I’ve not been fired because of it. We just think differently.

He went on to compare this view with the attitude the cast and crew of Curb Your Enthusiasm has toward his behavior. Garlin plays the role of Jeff Greene in the HBO comedy.

Now when I’m at ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ for example, if I’m not doing the things that we’re talking about, Larry David—or a cameraman, the producer, who’s a woman—lots of people come up to me and ask me if I’m okay... I need to do what I need to do to keep my energy up and do what I do… If someone’s going after you, that’s different. But in terms of in general—well, then by God, quit, go someplace else.

The cast and crew of Curb Your Enthusiasm have not yet released a statement regarding the Garlin situation yet. Sony Pictures TV has issued a rather vague statement about Garlin's position at The Goldbergs, saying that it "is an employment matter and it is being addressed by HR and production.”

However, the veteran comedian has apologized for his behavior, saying that he would “respect their wishes” if someone was offended by his words or actions.
