Universal Pictures has finally released the first trailer for their long-awaited Jem and the Holograms, after the poster debuted just hours ago and new photos surfaced yesterday. This live action adventure is adapted from the hit animated TV series of the same name, starring Aubrey Peeples as Jem, Stefanie Scott as Kimber, Hayley Kiyoko as Aja and Aurora Perrineau as Shana. Will the new generation love Jem and her friends as much as those growing up in the 1980s?

As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a one-in-a-million journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden. In Universal Pictures' Jem and the Holograms, four aspiring musicians will take the world by storm when they see that the key to creating your own destiny lies in finding your own voice. Jem and her sisters embark on a music-driven scavenger hunt - one that sends them on an adventure across Los Angeles - in an attempt to unlock a final message left by her father.

The supporting cast is rounded out by Ryan Guzman, Nathan Moore, Juliette Lewis and Molly Ringwald. Jon M. Chu (Justin Bieber's Believe, Now You See Me 2: The Second Act) directs from a script by Ryan Landels, based on the hit original TV series created by Christy Marx. Take a look at the first footage from Jem and the Holograms, before this musical adventure hits theaters nationwide October 23.
