Former iCarly co-stars Jennette McCurdy and Miranda Cosgrove have ventured down different paths in life in the years since they were former child stars on Nickelodeon, but there's still nothing but love between the pair. In her new memoir, I'm Glad My Mom Died, McCurdy describes the misconduct she endured from "The Creator," referring to the person who created iCarly and its spinoff Sam & Cat. She claims to have turned down $300,000 to stay silent over what she experienced.

With this in mind, it's not hard to understand why McCurdy was not interested in joining Cosgrove for the iCarly revival series on Paramount+. But that's not to say there's anything personal between McCurdy and Cosgrove, as the two remain friends. In promotion of her book, McCurdy took part in an interview for Entertainment Tonight, and here's what she had to say when asked about her relationship with Cosgrove.

"I love Miranda to pieces. I always will. She has such a special place in my heart. She helped me grow as a person and heal as a person, and I hope I did the same for her, and I just love her so much."

McCurdy explains that she had been inseparable from Cosgrove for many years, though they don't speak quite as frequently these days as they've pursued different creative endeavors. According to McCurdy, Cosgrove had just recently gotten in touch to let her know that she's excited to read the book.

"We totally still keep in touch. Not as often as we used to. We used to be attached at the hip, so it was very much that kind of relationship throughout, honestly probably until our mid-twenties. But, now, we're all growed up in our different directions. I'm always rooting for her... The last I heard from her, she said she was so excited to read it, and sent just a very supportive, lovely text about reading the book. I can't wait for her to read it. I think she'll really like it. I think she'll laugh a lot, I think she'll relate to a lot."

Jennette McCurdy Might Return to Acting, But Not for iCarly

Miranda Cosgrove was joined by Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress for the iCarly reboot on Paramount+, and while there were efforts made to get Jennette McCurdy involved, that did not happen. McCurdy has since stepped back from acting and wasn't interested in coming back for the new iCarly, though she tells ET that she's now considering a return to performing on-screen. The caveat is that it will have to be a project that just feels right.

"I thought, you know what, there might be a way for me to act from a place that feels really healing and empowered. Maybe I write something for myself? I don't know what that looks like. I haven't gone that far. I definitely want to focus on writing and directing. But I'm open to the idea of acting, which feels like growth to me, because I had walked away from it so definitively in my past, which felt important to me at the time, but I'm just at a different place now."

While "The Creator" is not involved with the reboot of iCarly, McCurdy still has no interest whatsoever in revisiting that world. She says that her mental health is of top priority when it comes to deciding which projects to pursue, and something like revisiting a series she had such a negative experience with behind the scenes would probably not be a good idea. When McCurdy was asked if she was happy with turning down iCarly, she said:

"Oh my god, yeah. Every decision, that's the basis, one of the main factors that plays into the types of decisions I make is my mental health. That comes truly first and foremost for me. ... I'm focusing on what I choose to focus on. I'm focusing on writing and projects that feel authentic to me and that align with my mental health."
