The White Lotus has officially begun filming season 2 with Jennifer Coolidge reprising her role as the iconic Tanya McQuoid. Coolidge’s character was a fan-favorite for many in season one and even earned her Critics’ Choice, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Rumors of Coolidge’s involvement in season 2 were spreading around, but HBO finally confirmed the news this Monday.

Season 1 of The White Lotus took viewers to the Hawaiian location of the chain resort where they were shown the lives of the hotel’s employees being uprooted by the arrival of the new hotel guests. Season 1 of the series included many mishaps, miscommunications, and even murder with an amazing cast including Alexandra Daddario, Murray Bartlett, Jake Lacy, Connie Britton, Sydney Sweeney, and more. Heading across the pond for its second season, audiences will be treated to another week-long escapade of new employees and vacationers at the resort’s Italian base.
Although Coolidge is the only cast member returning, the second season of the critically acclaimed series has a stellar cast including F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Meghann Fahy, Tom Hollander, Michael Imperioli, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Will Sharpe, and Leo Woodall. James and Fahy will play a married couple Cameron and Daphne Babcock, who are vacationing with another couple, Ethan Spiller (Sharpe) and his wife, Harper (Plaza). Woodall will play Jack, a magnetic guest staying at the White Lotus.
The official Instagram of The White Lotus officially commemorated the new season with a photo of the first day of production this Monday. Behind the clapperboard marking the shooting of the new season, you can see gorgeous cypress trees and beautiful homes laid on the hills of Sicily. The show is using San Domenico Palace in Taormina as the set for the White Lotus resort. David White is returning for his role as the series as writer and director as well as executive producer alongside David Bernad and Mark Kamine. Additionally, this time around, we will be getting seven episodes compared to season 1's six.
The White Lotus Season 2 Starts Production in Sicily
Recently, Coolidge was a part of the Oscar-nominated dark comedy horror film, Promising Young Woman, as Cassie’s (Carey Mulligan) mother. Her vocal talents can also be heard in recent episodes of both Rick and Morty and Ten Year Old Tom. While waiting to see the return of Tanya at the Italian White Lotus, fans can expect to see Coolidge soon in the spooky Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan limited Netflix series, The Watcher as well as the upcoming rom-com feature, Shotgun Wedding, alongside Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel.
