Jeremy Piven has joined the cast of Universal Pictures' sci-fi epic Edge of Tomorrow, which is currently shooting extra scenes in the U.K. after wrapping principal photography months ago.

The actor plays Colonel William Marx, although no further details about his character were given. A studio representative confirmed the casting, and stressed that they had always planned to go back and shoot additional material. Jeremy Piven was already in the U.K., on hiatus from his TV series Mr. Selfridge.

Tom Cruise stars in this sci-fi thriller as a soldier who dies in combat, only to relive the day of his death over and over again, making him more efficient on the field of battle in the process. Emily Blunt, Charlotte Riley, Bill Paxton and Dragomir Mrsic co-star. Doug Liman is directing from a screenplay by Dante Harper and Joby Harold.
