Actor Jerry O'Connell is returning to CBS with an untitled parenting comedy from Jeff Astrof and author Adam Mansbach.

The story will center on a writer who unexpectedly becomes a parenting expert after his tongue-in-cheek book becomes a surprise hit. The show will be loosely based on Adam Mansbach's book, Go The F**k* to Sleep, which is described as a "bedtime book for parents." Jeff Astrof and Adam Mansbach will write the pilot script. Jerry O'Connell will also share a story credit for hatching the idea with Jeff Astrof and Adam Mansbach. Jerry O'Connell is a father of two-year-old twins himself, and had been searching for a comedy project like this, when he came across Adam Mansbach's book.

Jeff Astrof will serve as showrunner and executive produce alongside Michael Rotenberg and Richard Abate. Jerry O'Connell and Adam Mansbach will serve as co-executive producers.

The project marks a return to CBS for Jerry O'Connell, who starred in the short-lived drama The Defenders last season.
